Start with a short demonstration script

List the functions your customer must have and ask for a video showing the actual steps. Include available language settings, audio, relevant phone use, the parking image and important vehicle controls. Tie the recording to the VIN and date so it remains useful when several similar cabins are under review.

Avoid recording private messages, passwords or contact lists. The task is to establish the car's functions, not to collect an owner's personal data. Note the device, cable or other accessory used where a demonstration depends on it, and confirm which accessories are included with the sale.

Separate a translated menu from service availability

English text on a display does not prove that every online function operates at the destination. Ask which services require the original owner's account, a network or a subscription and whether a legitimate transfer or reset remains necessary. Keep those dependencies explicit rather than describing a general export conversion.

Test required local functions without assuming remote services are enabled. If your buyer only needs ordinary audio and a reversing image, say so. If connected operation is essential, resolve it before acceptance. The practical-use guide helps prioritise requirements around the customer's real journeys.

Inspect changes beyond the new component

A replacement screen may affect vehicle settings, steering controls, audio and camera operation. Ask who fitted it and obtain available installation information. Demonstrate related functions rather than accepting that a new-looking display proves a complete installation.

The same approach applies to added cameras, lighting or other electrical accessories. Record original and current equipment separately in the vehicle record. If a return to original hardware is proposed, obtain the compatible parts and complete work scope before treating it as a simple, inexpensive adjustment.

Assess advertised driver assistance carefully

Confirm which functions are actually fitted and ask for an appropriate safe demonstration within the inspection scope. A sensor visible on the body does not establish a complete package. Where body repairs or component replacements may affect a system, ask the qualified workshop what checks are required for that configuration.

Keep a warning message or failed test as a finding until it is interpreted properly. Do not promise a repair based on resetting a screen or clearing codes. The condition report should identify the evidence needed to close the item before release.

Include ordinary cabin controls

Test keys, locks, windows, seats, ventilation, cooling and lights as agreed. Inspect switches, seals, roof functions where fitted and the state of the luggage area. These items influence the customer's experience and preparation costs even when the headline screen functions work.

List missing accessories and defective items individually. A programming or setup requirement can make the complete replacement cost different from a bare part price. The parts planning guide helps your workshop request the correct component and define the working outcome.

Describe a partially verified system accurately

A candidate may demonstrate local audio, a usable menu and a reversing image while remote app operation remains unresolved. List those outcomes separately. It would be inaccurate both to promise full overseas compatibility and to disregard the local functions that were actually shown.

Ask whether the unresolved function is essential to the customer. If it is, obtain appropriate evidence or consider another configuration before committing to the car. If it is optional, keep the limitation clear in the quote and retail description instead of allowing a broad feature list to imply it works.

Record the software or hardware state used in the demonstration where relevant. If a screen is replaced or updated during preparation, repeat the affected checks. A video of the earlier installation cannot establish the condition of a different system delivered later.

Describe only the result you can reproduce

Use clear categories such as demonstrated, setup dependent, repair required and unverified. If software or hardware changes before handover, repeat the affected checks. A previous video should not be treated as final proof after the system it shows has been altered.

Send mandatory language and equipment requirements through the X5 PLUS enquiry. A precise request makes alternative trims easier to review. The eventual retail description should reflect the delivered vehicle's functions and any meaningful dependencies, rather than a collection of promises taken from the most elaborate reference cabin.
